Best Class B RV Manufacturers (Top Motorhomes & Brands)

Published on September 1st, 2021
Updated on February 2nd, 2024

Class B motorhomes are a compact and easy way to travel across the US. The smaller size and streamlined design make them more fuel-efficient, and the smaller size means you can park them just about anywhere without stress.

To learn which manufacturers build the best Class B RVs, I put together a list of the top ten brands that will deliver quality and performance.

If you’re in the market for a small RV, stick around and see which makes and models of Class B campervans stand out from the crowd!

What is a Class B RV?

Class B RV on the beach

Before I get into the best brands, let’s learn more about what makes a Class B recreational vehicle different from Class A and Class C motorhomes.

The first noticeable difference is the size. Class B RVs fall in the 18-24 foot range in length, and most are around 7 feet wide.

The chassis for a Class B is a commercial van model, such as a Ford Transit or Mercedes Sprinter. Class C RVs are on a commercial truck chassis, while Class A motorhomes are built on a bus or motor coach chassis.

Fuel economy is much better with a smaller and lighter Class B, which is another big draw for RVers who plan to put many miles on their camper. Most campervans get 12-25 MPG, where most Class C motorhomes max out at around 11 MPG, and Class A range from 7-12 MPG.

Although small, Class B camper vans fit in many standard amenities found in larger recreational vehicles such as:

  • Kitchen
  • Holding tanks
  • Toilet/bathroom
  • 12-volt battery system or optional solar
  • Lounge area and bed

Class B engines come in both gas and diesel versions, so you can select the type that works best to help you reach your camping destinations efficiently.

The one thing many RV shoppers may find shocking is the cost of Class B motorhomes, as most are more expensive than Class C and even many Class A recreational vehicles.

Class B motorhomes are considered a luxury-level camping choice, with most having prices well over $100,000.

There are also new lines of Class B+ coaches that increase living space and amenities if you find the standard camper van size just a little too tight.

The Travato has four-floor plans to choose from and goes the extra mile in providing better insulation, as well as offering heated holding tanks and optional dual-pane windows so you can camp any season of the year in comfort.

I really like the layout of the Travato 59G, which includes a wet bath, large bed, kitchen with pantry, and seating for four up front with an adjustable table that swivels 360° or can move to a second mounting position for total flexibility.

Roadtrek is a top manufacturer of Class B campervans, with six models in their lineup to choose from. The Roadtrek Zion SRT model is a top seller because it offers a fantastic floorplan that feels very spacious.

The Zion SRT is another campervan built on a Ram ProMaster chassis which provides a smooth and stable ride even if you choose to go off-grid to camp.

I love the full kitchen that includes a microwave, with cabinets that can fit large pots, and the slide-out pantry that makes the most of every inch of space. Another top feature is the rear couch that flattens into a queen-size bed at the push of a button so that guests can rest comfortably.

For such a compact campervan, the Zion SRT manages to fit in a private wet bath and seating in the cab by swiveling the captain’s chairs inward and popping the table into the floor bracket.

These MODE Campervans are ready for action, with a kitchen that includes a deep sink, fridge, microwave, two-burner induction cooktop, and extra counter space. For serious excursions off the beaten path, look into the Stealth or Beast models for additional features.

The bathroom includes the Halo shower system, concealed shower pan, a hot water recirculating system, and a cassette toilet. There’s also an outdoor shower great for campsite cleanup or pet washing.

6. Coach House Arriva

Length20′
Sleeps2
Price$175,000

The Coach House Arriva V24 is a Class B motorhome that rises from a Mercedes-Benz 3500 Sprinter van extended chassis. Coach House was so proud of its unique design; they patented it.

This small dealer sells directly to the customer, which allows them to focus on continually improving performance.

For a compact campervan, there are many features inside not found on larger, more expensive brands, such as the dry bath with separate shower and toilet, which makes getting ready much more manageable.

The kitchen highlights include a 6-cubic-foot fridge and freezer, a convection microwave, solid-surface countertops, sink, pantry, and cooktop.

I like how you can alter the twin beds into a king-size bed for a luxurious amount of sleeping space for a couple’s camping adventures. In addition, the ducted air conditioning system keeps airflow where you need it most for even cooling throughout the motorhome.

Other Top Features:

  • Heavy-duty trailer hitch

Coach House also produces the Platinum, Platinum II, and Platinum III models of Class B campervans built on a Ford E-450 or the Ford Transit 3500 cab chassis. In addition, there are many Platinum line floorplans to choose from if the Arriva doesn’t suit your needs.

Coachmen do not neglect any design element in these vans, using high-end materials and craftsmanship such as Amish cabinetry with soft-close drawers and doors, the Truma Combi water heater and furnace system, and an Onan generator.

I find driving the Galleria is a joy, with a seven-speed automatic transmission for smooth acceleration, driver-assist tools such as blind-spot monitoring, collision avoidance, and lane tracking for peace of mind on busy highways.

8. Pleasure-Way Plateau TS

Length22′ 9″
Sleeps2
Price$165,000

Pleasure-Way is a Canadian company that has an impressive lineup of Class B vans, like the Plateau TS model, that caters to the needs of picky travelers. So when you want your recreational vehicle to perform reliably year after year, this may be the ideal campervan with a straightforward design built with the highest level of craftsmanship.

Don’t let the simplicity of design fool you. Not only will you get to customize the look of the interior and exterior with an array of color, material, and finishes, but every inch is used to the best advantage to increase storage, function, or room to maneuver.

I like the large bathroom, and the galley with a 6-foot Corian countertop provides all the necessary equipment to cook on the road. The wall of side windows floods the interior with light for a bright and cheerful feeling.

The full-size wardrobe allows you to hang clothing wrinkle-free, and the side door fully opens so that you can add the optional screening package for plenty of fresh air and views of nature.

When you’re ready to relax, you can push the button on the rear sofa bed and open one of the most comfortable standard memory foam mattresses in any campervan that is almost king-size.

9. Thor Tellaro

Length21′ 1″
Sleeps4
Price$98,375

Thor has six lines of Class B vans that stand the test of time, including the top-selling Tellaro 20A with a unique pop-up roof that increases sleeping capacity up to four people so families can travel efficiently.

While the affordable price will grab your attention, the features found throughout the three floorplans are abundant. For example, on the exterior, you’ll find a bike rack, roof ladder, awning, and a standard 200W solar panel that charges the AGM house batteries.

The wet bath is tight and has a cassette toilet, but it is a feature travelers demand. Other features like the big fridge, spacious dining table, and sleek cabinetry made with precision by Italian crafters make up for it.

I like the shiny finish of most interior surfaces, which reflects light and makes the camper feel bigger and brighter. The king-size pull-out bed is lifted to leave tons of room underneath for the storage of bulky camping gear.

Other Top Features:

  • Onan RV QG 2800 Gas Generator
  • 190W Solar Panel with Solar Charge Controller
  • Large side windows that open
  • Keyless entry system
  • Low-Profile 11,000 BTU air conditioner
  • Large skylight in kitchen area
  • 7 in. Touchscreen dash radio with Apple Carplay/Android Auto
  • 1000-watt Inverter

Thor is an industry leader in all recreational vehicle types. Still, their lineup of Class B camper vans that include the Sequence, Rize, Scope, Sanctuary, and Tranquility, along with the Tellaro, should warrant consideration if you’re in the market for a small motorhome.
